The CEO of Konnech, an American election technology company, was charged for allegedly storing election worker data from Los Angeles on servers in China. Konnech provides software for managing poll workers, locations, campaigns, and supplies required to conduct elections in the US, Canada, and Australia. Chinese election software company Jinhua Hongzheng Technology, which operates in more than 20 Chinese provinces in partnership with Huawei, Lenovo, China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom, claims to use Konnech's patents. Hongzheng Technology specializes in providing electronic voting systems to the Chinese Communist Party and claims to have more than 20 government customers in North America. The US Federal Communications Commission designated China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, and Huawei as "national security threats.
