American election technology company Konnech Inc., which provides software products used by thousands of election offices across North America, has come under scrutiny after reports suggested that coding resources locked down in Wuhan due to COVID-19 had led to count reporting problems during an election in Queensland. The reports also raised questions about why Konnech, which reportedly previously built the unique interactive communication platform and Chinese language learning tool ChineseBrief.com for the Confucius Institute, was given an important contract to produce software to administer Queensland's elections using Chinese coders over firms based in Queensland.
